Conditioning for Inverts Workshop

preinvertIf you are a beginner Level II or III student and you want to get some serious training in to move a little faster towards Intermediate level, then you will want to take this workshop!

Also, if you are an intermediate student struggling to take inverts to the next level–aerial that is–we will help you quickly build the muscles that this requires.

Not only will you learn conditioning exercises using the pole that will help you invert sooner (and safely!), you will also learn some exercises you can do at home without a pole to help you on your way.

Pricing: $25

Upcoming Dates: Wednesday, November 6th, 7-8:30pm

See our Class Calendar, go to that date, and click on the class to register.

Remember Current CED Students get $5 off, so contact us to register and get the discount.

Santa Baby Striptease

In this workshop you’ll learn an entire choreographed striptease / chair routine with plenty of time to practice at home before the holidays. Or just learn it for fun (and maybe future use).

You will need to bring the outfit you’d like to strip out of. The outfit should have 4 pieces to be removed. The perfect outfit is a button down shirt, a tie, a skirt, and a bra and panty set. That’s 4 items so with that combo, you’d end up topless with still the panties on. Don’t have this exact outfit? That’s ok. Open your closet and use your imagination. I can help you make it work.

Also, you must wear a base layer which will be worn underneath what you are taking off since there is no nudity in class. This layer can be a bathing suit, or leotard, or something form fitting.

We will be working with a version of “Santa Baby.” At the end of class, you will be given choreography notes and a resource to purchase the song

Pricing: $25

Upcoming Dates: Sunday, December 8th, 12-2pm
Friday, December 6th, 6:30-8:30pm

Burlesque Boot Camp

Burlesque Boot Camp!
A two-week introduction to bumps, grinds, peels, and posing.

This is also the class you would take as a prerequisite to starting the weekly burlesque classes on Tuesday nights. (Must take both weeks)

Week 1:
Struts, Bumps and Grinds (2 hours)
Students will learn the basics of burlesque history and movement. Following a brief discussion of burlesque’s evolution from simple stripping to storytelling and social commentary, we will cover bumps, grinds, shimmies, and walks; as well as posing and floorwork. Please bring a pair of comfortable heels.

Week 2:
Peels and Props (2 hours)
We’ll quickly review week one, and build on those skills. Week two focuses on boa- and fan-play, self-touch, and basic stripping (how to remove gloves/bras/skirts/stockings). Pasties and tassel twirling may be covered based on student interest/comfort. Please bring a button-down shirt and extra bra. Should we cover tassel twirling, practice pasties will be available for sale.

We're Back! Pole Jam tonight!

Still looking for something to do tonight? Come to our Pole Jam!

Even if you don’t pole or are just starting, there are going to be polers and non-polers there having fun and socializing.

The fun starts tonight, March 8, 2013 at 8pm and goes until 11pm or so. No need to be here the whole time (but we’d like you to be.)

Pole Jams present an opportunity for the NE Ohio Pole dance community to get together and have a great time! Share tips and tricks, build a stronger community, have a great time, make new pole friends!

All Pole Students, Instructors, potential students, and (respectful) pole aficionados welcome

(this isn’t a strip club… although booty clapping will probably happen at some point).
(Potential students will not be taught, but can see what pole is all about and get info on classes at any area studio, not just CED. Remember this is about strengthening the community without boundaries.)

Please donate $5 if you will be using the equipment. Those with 6 week Open Studio Practice Passes can use their pass towards this event!

CatalystCon 2013

CatalystCon is in 15 days, and I will be heading to DC for lots of fun and info all about sex!

What is CatalystCon.?

I can’t really say it any better than then organizers themselves.

CatalystCon East '13

CatalystCon. is a conference created to inspire exceptional conversations about sexuality. It is about reaching out and stimulating those who attend to create those important conversations in their own communities, changing how we as a society talk about and treat sexuality. It is about stimulating the activist that is within all of us and sparking transformation in the way our friends, neighbors, children and even politicians discuss one of the most important aspects of humanity.

This is a conference meant to energize, enlighten and exhilarate. It is a conference where everyone is welcome, everyone is respected, and everyone is encouraged to share their knowledge and experiences. With the most current attacks on women’s rights such as birth control, mandatory transvaginal ultrasounds as well as sex education being pulled from our schools, it is more important than ever to come together and have these important conversations on all areas of sexuality.

The fundamental principle of CatalystCon. is that knowledge is power and sharing that knowledge is the first spark in igniting changing conversations.”

Why are you going to CatalystCon.?

Sex equals fun

With the birth of the Sexual Wellness program at Cleveland Exotic Dance, it’s time to connect with others doing similar work with sexuality. Our burlesque ladies attend things like BurlyCon, Pole has all kinds of showcases, competitions, and conventions, and belly dance has all kinds of fun events. Many of these events feature a host of workshops designed to focus on aspects to create better dancers and instructors.

The world of sexuality is no different. I have read A LOT about sexuality, from how-to books to anthropological ethnographies. I have also experienced all kinds of flavors of sexuality, from stripping to kink clubs. I can always learn more. I can always improve on how to share information with and educate others on both fun sex topics and serious ones.

I love what I do, and I want to always learn more and get better, not just for myself, but for my students. If you are interested in virtually attending the convention with me, follow me on twitter, Red-Thistle.

Here’s a list of the presentations and events I plan on attending. Each one has it’s own hashtag for twitter so you can follow everyone’s tweets. The entire event has one too, #ccon.
